Feeling :  blahblah  Listening :  Blondie - Heart of Glass  Reading :  Fanny Hill

I had a v. productive day today. I replaced every theme here on Nothing but Song. They all look the same, but that’s pretty much what I was going for. Uniformity, but with loads of different colours.

I have also removed most of the content. I doubt ppl will miss it. If you do, you’re on straight stalker status.

I am also working on a forum for the site here, but I think I’ll leave that as my day-off project next week. It’s pretty much done, but I want to make a good theme for it since the ones available are not the look I’m going for.

Be still my fangirl heart. The Spice Girls are reforming (Ginger is coming back too!), but you can’t buy tickets because they’re holding them hostage. No fair. The Spice Girls was one of my first concerts here in Vegas, when I was a but a wee child.

* * *

Going to see either “Evan Almighty” or “Ratatouille” tomorrow with the nieces. Maybe both, dunno yet.

I wonder why The Academy Is… hasn’t updated their podcast feed for TAITV for 3 episodes now. I’ve tried the refresh button, and no joy. I know my podcast feed in iTunes works, because it keeps updating for my Cocteau Twins podcast. I had to download the eps I was missing from YouTube, and there’s no way to get the videos recognized as podcasts.

Plus there is talk of a fan club where you pay to join. I’m torn, because I’m a relatively new fan of TAI. But from the talk on the LJ, it seems the band was adamant abt. not having one before, the el-jay was enough, they’re selling out, and all that. To join would be to support something I didn’t even do for The Killers. And I do want to see the Academy on their headlining tour.

I’m torn.

I am also planning a weekend getaway for my 24th birthday in September to San Diego. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come, because that weekend is also the weekend of Street Scene ‘07. It’s like the best damn birthday present ever!

Tickets are $120, but when you think about it, it’s $3.75 per band.

HELLO!!

Since I can’t quite leave the country on a dime to go to things like Glastonbury, or Carling Weekend, or T in the Park, things like Street Scene or Vegoose are my only options. Not impressed with Lollapalooza, and Warped is a little out of my style, so no joy on those. I posted on MySpace, since most of my friends & family are on it. Hopefully they will rise to the occasion… or I’m going to San Diego by myself. Which would be a v. sad birthday. :(

I’m tired, but I don’t feel like sleeping. I hate this feeling.

Which is why I’m blogging. In an effort to fall asleep.

Prompt time!

What superpower would you choose to have?

By default, my favourite superpower is invisibility. I have seen both sides to being invisible H.G. Wells’ Invisible Man, and the recent TV show, of course. In my heart, I am a social scientist. I love to observe people. I just hate when they stare back. If I don’t have to look at somebody to get things done, I won’t. It’s nothing personal. I don’t want to blame it on being Asian, but in some Asian cultures, staring at someone in the eyes is considered disrespectful. I’ve gotten over it somewhat since I work in retail, but if I’m on the other side of the cash wrap, I become my old, “don’t look them in the eye” self again.

However, if I could choose, I would choose the power of paralysis. I would throw my hands up and neutralize somebody if they were doing wrong.

Bad driver? Neutralized.

Thief with a five-finger discount? Neutralized.

Harming innocent women and children? Throw yo’ hands up.

I think it would be a far cooler, more effective power to have. Invisibility ranks right up next to paralysis though, don’t get me wrong.

Siobhan’s album is out!! Go get it if you haven’t already! I will, once the import price goes down some. Otherwise I’ll listen to my leaked copy (sorry Shiv!) in the meantime.

* * *

That’s all. Off to visit some dailies. :)

Feeling :  chipperchipper  Listening :  PYT - Same Ol Same Ol

Honda Civic Tour was bloody fantastic.

I went with my niece, C. I was so excited, I decided we should leave early. So we hung around the Palms 3 hours before the show; saw Mike Carden, the Butcher, and Jack the Camera Guy for TAITV playing a table game. Locked eyes with Mike (so fucking cute IRL) for the briefest of moments, and I knew immediately who he was. Began fangirling as quietly as I could, since it was the middle of the casino, rofl. But I played it cool, and we didn’t approach them.

DAMN DAMN DAMN.

C wanted to take pics, but I didn’t let her because she’s not allowed by the tables (obviously). We found a bathroom so we could fangirl in private. She decided to call her friends, and she was hyperventilating as she did. Which was cute & silly, since her friends didn’t even like TAI. As we left, we walked past them again, and I went to play a quick game of DDR to get my mind off the excitement of seeing them being normal guys, rofl.

I don’t think the Palms was ready for us to show up so early, so everyone was asked to board an elevator to go upstairs and wait. They wanted all of us off the casino floor, since there was absolutely no room to wait around and most of them were underage. So I listened to music and watched videos on my iPod (not TAITV, because I was in such a rush to get down there in one piece, I wasn’t able to sync my iPod). Then we met up with her friends A & N.

Got in, was tempted to start drinking, but since I changed $10 into arcade tokens (thinking my niece would play) that I ended up carrying with me the whole night, I was short $10. Walked by the merch tables, and decided not to buy. Well, they were typical merch table prices, but I didn’t have enough money. Why is it every time I go to a show, I never have money for band merch?? *kicks self*

Stood around waiting, watching the big screen TVs playing FBR/Decaydance videos. We were practically on the barrier, and as you can see from my pictures. The pics I’ve uploaded are only half the size of the originals, because I didn’t want to waste time/space uploading over 200 MB of pictures on my personal webspace. They’re huge; big enough for a computer desktop wallpaper. But if someone DOES want one of the bigger ones, just let me know and I will accommodate accordingly. :) I won’t upload them all, but if someone wants to use them for whatever, do comment or contact me.

Cobra Starship came on (fantastic as usual), then Paul Wall (never saw a crowd go quieter, but his beats are hot), then The Academy Is… (YAY!!) and then Fall Out Boy (God, I don’t know where they get the energy to perform. Joe was right in front of us. They were complete madmen the whole time, running around the stage and shit). +44 couldn’t make it, because of a family emergency.

But the best part of the evening?

Ryan and Brendon from Panic! at the Disco performed during a break in the Fall Out Boy portion of the show.

I managed to record 2 of the songs they performed: “IWSNT” and they also did a “duet” with Mark of +44 at the end of their acoustic set. They did “The Only Difference,” “But It’s Better if You Do,” and “Lying” before I finally got my frickin’ camera to record, rofl.

Here are the videos in MPG format… IWSNT (YouTube Version) & What’s My Age Again? (YouTube Version).

I’m sure there’s more, but I have to get ready for work, rofl.

EDIT (12:25 AM): I told you there’d be more!

William Beckett from The Academy Is… & Paul Wall came out for “Snakes on a Plane” during Cobra Starship’s set.

Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship came out for “Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy?” during Fall Out Boy’s set, for some reason, rofl.

Pete stopped the music in the middle of their cover of “Beat It” by Michael Jackson because of some unruly fans on his side of the stage. When they calmed down, they launched right back into the music.

Ryan came out during “The Take Over, the Break’s Over” for his guitar solo.

Um, again, I’m sure there’s more, but I really should go to bed now. ;)

OMG. My Fall Out Boy/TAI/Cobra Starship/+44/Paul Wall concert is tomorrow night already!! Meep. I can’t wait. As soon as I get enough sleep (am closing tonight), and we eat before we go, me and my niece are heading down to the venue to get a good place in line. Hopefully there won’t be too many scene kids in front of us. We had planned to stake out the venue on Friday night, so we knew where we were going, but plans to do so fell through. So we’re gonna wing it tomorrow. And besides, the concert doesn’t start until 6, and we’re getting there at 1pm (hopefully).

This is shaping up to be a decent summer vacation.

Corinne got us tickets to Spamalot for the beginning of next month already. Yay! Dinner and a musical. I heard it’s really good.

My sister wants to go camping again, but a trip for all of us, and to a different place. Their last camping trip was just them to Mt. Zion in Utah; me and my dad couldn’t go because of our schedules. And my manager has been giving me monthly schedules, and the perfect weekend to go (open on Wednesday, off Thursday/Friday, late Saturday) just happens to be my sister’s birthday! How cool is that?

Plus I am planning on going back to Cali for a weekend in August and staying with my friends. And by weekend, I mean a work weekend. I have to request it soon, or I could wing it and hope she gives me a decent weekend like she did without meaning to for my sister’s birthday.

So, to tide you over until my Honda Civic Tour recap blog, I present you with my summer playlist to blast whilst you’re in your car, drinking, chillin’ with friends, hanging out by the pool, whatever you do when you’re on summer hols.
