I’m really excited. I’m working on my best friend’s official portfolio/website. And bless her little cotton bobby socks, she’s paying me. I’m really psyched to be building a website from the ground up for someone other than me, rofl. It really puts things into perspective. Things you would normally do for your own site, you find yourself stopping and asking, “Would they go for that?”
I’ve got my playlist for June ready for you. It’s called “If I Was a DJ: Party Up in Here.” It came about because I’ve always been interested in DJ’ing, controlling music to fit a crowd of people. My kuya’s a DJ, and he does pretty well. He gets hired from time to time. Whenever he comes home, he usually tries to hit our vinyl shops. Although the last time he was here, he said his friend sent him over a ton of music to mix with.
One thing I’ve noticed - being a desktop DJ meself, rofl - is that there’s a certain mood you have to find and be attuned to when you’re entertaining a crowd. With “Party Up in Here,” I obviously wanted to capture that high energy feeling, shake your ass like nobody’s watching vibe.
But I am incredibly picky. This took me longer than I thought (almost a month) to narrow down the setlist. Usually when I decided to make a new mixtape playlist, I can do it pretty quickly because the songs are easy to find in my iTunes. It was pretty big when I first started compiling it too: almost 25 songs.
I think another thing that prevented me from posting it sooner was that I wanted to capture that old school mixtape feeling, cramming as many songs as you can on one side of a cassette tape. As such, if you get any of these songs, you have to listen to them in order. It won’t make sense aurally if you don’t.
So what I’m trying to say is that I don’t think I could be a proper DJ, deciding on what jam to put on to keep the energy flowing. However, I like being a desktop DJ. It’s cool.
Plus you don’t have to invest in 1s and 2s. That shit is expensive!
The songs that don’t have links is because I bought them on iTunes and you’d have to purchase them anyways.
